North 132ABC (Phoenix Convention Center - West and North Buildings)
Andrew Stephen Kirkman, UKMO, Exeter, United Kingdom

The Met Office is transforming to be more efficient, resilient and responsive and ready for the future. A Transformation and Efficiency (T&E) programme has been established to deliver numerous projects across the organisation to make us ‘simpler to work with and simpler to work for’. ServiceHub is exposing our big 4 atmospheric models and observations on the cloud via APIs. SurfaceNet is transforming the collection, management and exposure of observational data in near real-time. Customers and partners will be able to discover what data the Met Office has to offer and quickly and efficiently establish new data services in a more transparent way. We are also transforming our meteorological and operational services to exploit meteorological models, data and science in a new way with enhanced tools and services enabling staff and customers to make quicker and better decisions. We are removing duplication and overlaps, redesigning the Met Office to allow us to respond quickly and effectively to customer and stakeholder requirements. This work will deliver necessary savings while continuing to provide world-leading services to customers including the UK’s Public Weather Service. This presentation will showcase how the Met Office is transforming and how the efficiencies are being made.
