Drought.gov, a part of the National Integrated Drought Information System’s (NIDIS), serves as a portal that aggregates and displays drought related information, products, and services in a user-friendly and mobile-friendly way. Many of these products are ingested, processed, and analyzed using a combination of GIS tools (Python, ArcGIS, GDAL, and other tools) and visualized using Leaflet, a mobile-friendly JavaScript library for interactive mapping, to display these products in an accurate, efficient, and user-friendly way. This talk will take a dive into the GIS processing, tools, and techniques used by Drought.gov to ensure these drought products are displayed in an accurate and efficient way for both desktop and mobile users.
