A Mile High Microclimate
Ashton Altieri, KUSA-TV, Denver, CO
The Denver metropolitan area has about 2.5 million people spread over 4,500 square miles. Within this area, the elevation varies from 4983 feet just northeast of Denver to well over 11,000 feet in the county just west of Denver. Our unique geography creates an interesting combination of meteorological variables including upslope and downslope flow, the Denver Cyclone, and the Denver Convergence Vorticity Zone. These variables often generate a very challenging forecast environment. Recorded presentation
