Advances in Flood Forecasting-The Northwest Experience

The Northwest River Forecast Center is one of thirteen hydrologic center in the United States, and specializes in flood and water resource forecasting, river modeling and hydrologic system development. This paper will explain and explore the process of river and flood forecasting, how the Forecast Center concentrates on saving lives and property, and some of the new tools and resources at this and similar centers throughout the United States.
