Changes in NWS climate products and the role of customer feedback

Barbara E. Mayes, NOAA/NWS, Silver Spring, MD; and R. J. Leffler and R. E. Livezey

The National Weather Service’s (NWS) Climate Services Division, under the Office of Climate, Water, and Weather Services, solicited feedback from users of NWS climate products and services during 2003 on several proposed changes. Much of the feedback is communicated via the Internet; when a product change is proposed, users can link from the product to a survey form that is submitted directly to the NWS climate customer liaison team. Thus, all proposed changes to NWS climate prediction products are first evaluated by the climate community.

NWS’s Climate Services Division continues to strive to improve customer service by soliciting customer requirements and then incorporating validated suggestions into climate products, services, and data.
