Newspaper portrayal of climate data

PAPER WITHDRAWN

Richard W. Dixon, Texas State University, San Marcos, TX

Every day millions of readers are exposed to a weather feature in their daily newspaper. This presentation will expore how climate data is presented within that feature. Newspapers from a variety of cities in the US will examined using content analysis techniques. Differences occur in the type and extent of climate data presented, use of graphics, and regional focus.

By examining newspapers from all over the country, it will be possible to determine if any spatial trends exist in climate coverage or if trends exist related to city population.
