Climate feedbacks in the GFDL AM2 model
Room 608
Anthony J. Broccoli, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ
The magnitude of the warming in model projections of future climate change depends, in part, on the climate feedbacks operating in the model. An analysis of climate feedbacks in the GFDL AM2 model is presented, using several different methods for quantitatively diagnosing the sign and magnitude of these feedbacks. In particular, the feedback mechanisms responsible for changes in AM2 climate sensitivity during the model development process will be discussed. The AM2 results will be discussed in the context of other global climate models.
