Evaluation of VIIRS Vegetation Index EDR Produced Under the Algorithm Development Library
Hall E (New Orleans Convention Center )

VIIRS Vegetation Index (VI) EDRs are produced by the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) implementation of Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) algorithms under the Algorithm Development Library (ADL 3.0). The ADL is a set of programs and tools used to process the Raw Data Records (RDRs) for various sensors into Sensor Data Records (SDRs) and Environmental Data Records (EDRs). The ADL provides an algorithm framework in which algorithm scientists can develop, debug and execute new or existing algorithms that have been converted to run in the ADL environment. The VIIRS-VI-EDR includes the Top of the Atmosphere (TOA) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the Top of the Canopy (TOC) Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI). In this study we perform a comparison of the VI- EDR generated by ADL 3.0 using proxy/synthetic data against heritage VI products.
