Climatological persistence is the tendency for conditions in one period to remain the same into the next. This study will examine persistence in monthly temperature and percipitation in five mid-South states centered on Texas. Data from state climate divisions coving 1950 - 2010 will be analysed using the chi-square technique for independence. A binomial test will be applied to identify the pattern of persistence relationships throughout the year. Geographical techniques will be applied to identify spatial variations throughout the year. Comparisions will be made with earlier studies of climatological persistence.
