Thursday, 14 January 2016: 8:30 AM
Room 346/347 ( New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center)
Michael Ventrice, WSI Corporation, Andover, MA

Sub-Seasonal forecasting (Forecast Weeks 3, 4, and 5) is considered an important component of long-range weather prediction and is looked upon as an area that can outperform dynamical model guidance. It offers insight into intra-monthly forecasts and can help decision makers separate persisting patterns versus changeable ones. WSI has developed a new platform that is dedicated for sub-seasonal forecasting of U.S. and European temperatures/renewables. Important components to the sub-seasonal forecast stem from innovative proprietary products developed at WSI, which will be explored in this talk.
