2.9 Building a Weather Ready Nation: A New NWS Focus on Marine Ambassadors

This presentation wil showcase the newly established NWS Marine Ambassador's segment of the Weather Ready Nation Ambassador's Initiative. The marine sector includes users of open ocean, coastal and inland waterways including those of the marine transportation system carrying good to and from the United States. Issues facing future Marine Ambassador's include weather hazards, vessel draft, and recreational impacts like rip currents and water quality. An overview of all segments of the Weather Ready Nation Ambassador's Inititative will be presented to engage people across the Enterprise. Following the overview, there will be an opportunity for discussion, questions and answers, and requirements will be collected to ensure strong collaboration. Communications methods will be examined and voted upon by attendees to help steer future interaction. Examples and case studies will be shown to encourage discussion.
