The utilizing of radio telemetry system in forest meteorology

Grzegorz, Benedykt Durlo, Agricultural Univ. in Cracow, Cracow, Poland

The rise of interest of forest meteorology and climatology in Europe has been caused by the return to principle of natural forming and optimal forest ecosystems. The role of ecological and biological research has mainly resulted from the change, essentialy as for as reaction of environment to new dynamic directions its development is concerned. These research have contributed to evolution of regional program of meteorological monitoring on areas influenced by interaction of industrial emission, degraded terrain, also seedling crop, forest nursery and gene bank ecosystems. This work presents result of research project about utilization automatic wireless meteorological station in different forest stands. In last years 2002-2005 introduced for application on forest stands in Beskid Sadecki Mountains, nine automatic wireless meteorological stations by DAVIS Instruments. Wireless stations use frequency hoping spread spectrum radio. It is possible to use measuring sensors in different environment conditions and in forest stands about big three-dimensional disparity. Usefulness of wireless station has been checked in mountain terrain in forest conditions, on troublesome areas and limited coverage of telecommunication system. Precise synchronization of time measuring, control of work of remote recorder, simple utility, everything elements of this systems have gotten positive opinions of specialist and forester.
