An application of beach measurement techniques from Project Maury to the evolution of a meso-tidal system at Sandy Hook, New Jersey

Using a simple portable technique developed by K.O. Emery, surveys have been taken at Sandy Hook, New Jersey both spring and fall since 1974. The data generated can be used in the construction of swashline profiles, topographic maps and beach budgets. Also, taken at mid-beach are sand samples that cover the same time period of over thirty years.
Four sets of data will be presented that identify two surveys prior to pumping with two that follow after puming. Discussions following will examine the various technologies that have been applied to a program currently exceeding one billion dollars in New Jersey
