NOAA/EPA Golden Jubilee Symposium on Air Quality Modeling and Its Applications

6.1

Climate - Air Quality Interactions

Aad P. Van Ulden, KNMI, De Bilt, Netherlands

This presentation gives an overview of interactions between air pollution and climate. Recent satellite observations of atmospheric composition and recent modeling results will be presented. Important interactions between air pollution and climate include the contribution of changes in ozone concentrations to stratospheric cooling and tropospheric warming, and influences of aerosols on the earth radiation budget. It will be argued that both global modeling and regional modeling are necessary ingredients of both climate modeling and regional air quality modeling.wrf recording  Recorded presentation
