Description:

NOAA has increasingly prioritized and supported research in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences as a core part of its Weather Ready Nation priority.  Amid this marked increase in support, recognition has grown for a need to diversify the kinds of organizations that produce this research and connect it with operational processes and public benefits.  The CIMMS/NSSL Behavioral Insights Unit (BIU) was created to help address this need.  In this session, researchers from the BIU will present on their portfolios, with specific attention paid to the novel institutional processes they are working to build at the research-operations-partners-publics interface.  The session will conclude with an open forum that welcomes an exchange of ideas, feedback, and partnership-building.
