Description:
This proposed topic reflects the AMS Centennial Initiative that led to the creation of a new Partnering Committee in January 2020 to establish and maintain an overall partnering strategy including:
- Solidifying core partnerships like those with the American Geophysical Union and the National Weather Association;
- Building partnerships with professional societies in the social and ecological sciences;
- Building partnerships with new and emerging core users of AMS science and services; and
- Expanding private-sector partnerships in weather, water and climate decision support, with a special focus on emerging small businesses.
The 9th Annual Conference on the Weather, Water and Climate Enterprise provides the most appropriate venue to bring the broad public-private-academic Enterprise into focused discussions on these important areas of partnering to achieving the AMS goals for our second century.
Specific Sessions under this topic could include:
- A Town Hall to elicit input from a wide spectrum of Enterprise interests on an overall partnering strategy;
- Panel discussions of each of the four focus areas above;
- Joint sessions with other Conferences reflecting their specific interests in and commitment to partnerships in their areas of focus;
- Possible special events acknowledging the work of AMS Members who have carried the torch of partnership forward (e.g., Kelly Redmond).
