Poster Session 3 Advances in Prediction and Analysis of Uncoupled and Coupled Hydrologic Models using High Performance Computing (HPC) (posters)

Wednesday, 13 January 2021: 2:00 PM-3:30 PM

Description:

Numerical simulation of hydrologic processes has been practiced for many years. Although HPC is widely utilized in atmospheric modeling, its role in hydrological modeling has, until recently, been less significant. In this joint session, we are seeking abstracts that focus on hydrological modeling systems which require, and utilize HPC resources to improve the overall understanding and real-time prediction of hydrologic processes at all scales (land-surface, aquifer and stream/river flows) and their extremes (especially those with high-impacts on society). More specifically, we are interested in abstracts which demonstrate improved coupling of hydrologic models with atmospheric and/or ocean models (supported on the same computing platform); support large-scale hydrologic models at increased spatial and temporal resolutions; instances of coupled modeling systems running in an ensemble system to better express model uncertainty; abilities to process large datasets (multiterabyte volumes), novel approaches to model calibration resulting from hydro-HPC applications; and the ability to display high-spatiotemporal-resolution datasets for improved communication of modeling results.
