Description:
Extreme environments, or regions with high wind speeds and large waves, are notoriously difficult areas to observe and thus understand. The air-sea interactions that occur in these environments are complex and generate large fluxes of energy between the ocean and atmosphere. This session will focus on new developments in understanding, observing, and modeling of air-sea interactions in extreme environments, such as tropical cyclones and mid-latitude storm systems. We encourage presentations covering all aspects of air-sea interaction from gas exchange to sea spray generation to momentum transfer and beyond.
