Session 13A Flood Prediction, Analysis and Management II

Friday, 15 January 2021: 10:00 AM-11:00 AM

Description:

Predicting and managing floods are global needs that require a range of expertise from scientists, water resource managers, and policy makers.  Advancements in modeling frameworks are facilitating the development of new predictive tools, leveraging collection and synthesis of observational data, and delivering a rapidly expanding range of data and products. This session invites contributions from all sectors of the AMS community whose work focuses on the following: (1) the development of flood-prediction tools (models, assimilation of observations, and methodologies to create and improve hydrologic representation of flood processes), (2) the analysis of floods and (3) lessons learned from managing floods from scientific and societal perspectives. Since flood impacts are global and can be caused by different mechanisms that vary by geography and spatial scale, we encourage submissions from the U.S. and around the world, and across the full hydrologic range from global- to catchment-scale.
