The National Weather Service (NWS) is transforming to enhance its services, organizational structure, workforce model, and operating model, including Impact-Based Decision Support Services (IDSS) to better support a Weather-Ready Nation. One way the NWS is transforming its operating model is by nationally implementing a consistent four phase IDSS Operations Cycle to support the delivery of consistent Impact-based Messaging and IDSS. The phases include: Relationship Building with Core Partners; Readiness; Delivery; and Evaluation. By working within a nationally consistent conceptual IDSS framework at all levels, across National Centers, Regional Operations Centers, and local field offices, our Core Partners will receive the science-based, interpretive services they need to continue to make the critical life saving, planning, and operational decisions into the future. In this talk we will present the IDSS Operations Cycle and discuss its role in supporting more effective IDSS through a common national framework that is connected to NWS key priorities.
