Building on a strong foundation of scientific research and development, the MSC delivers accurate and timely weather and environmental information, early notifications, and impact-based warnings to support public authorities and emergency management in making decisions to protect the health, safety, and economic well-being of Canadians. By integrating environmental monitoring, science, operations, services and policy functions, the MSC is an authoritative source of meteorological and water resource information in Canada, where it delivers weather, water, ice, air quality, climate and related environmental services. Its services include forecasting weather conditions that can lead to unprecedented weather events, such as dangerous and extreme heat and flooding. This presentation will highlight MSC’s recent successes and transformation initiatives related to continuous improvements of its weather and environmental services to meet evolving user, stakeholder and partner needs. In particular, the advancement of its weather and environmental prediction systems, technical innovations of its monitoring network, and advances in dissemination of information and services will be presented.
