NESDIS is changing its approach to create and manage products, moving away from an observing-system-centric model to a focus on product requirements and user impact values. NESDIS is committed to sustain and develop new and improved products to meet highest priority user needs for reliable, authoritative environmental observations and information.

Based on this strategic change, NESDIS System Architecture and Engineering (SAE) has established a set of enterprise product governances that enable product-centric management approaches informed by sustained and improved user engagement. By moving to a product-portfolio management approach, NESDIS will enable scientific innovation and interactive development processes that will be more reactive to user needs and therefore provide more value to the public.

This presentation will provide an update on the NESDIS enterprise product governances, how they help to enable a user-focused, product-centric portfolio management, and optimize the benefits for users the by incorporates user needs annually into tradespace made within product portfolios to determine what products will be retired, developed, sustained or improved.
