8.1 Characterizing Atmospheric Aerosols Using Advanced Light-Scattering Models

The development of light-scattering techniques to address non-spherical morphologies has revealed the limitations of the Lorenz-Mie theory in applications to aerosol retrievals. Combining such modeling with polarization measurements has provided a powerful technique to characterize atmospheric aerosols. In this presentation, we will provide examples of comparisons of experimentally measured light scattering with model calculations and show retrievals that
have been made using such model particles.
