11.1 TraCSS-Horizons: The Development Environment for Future Space Traffic Coordination Service

Wednesday, 31 January 2024: 1:45 PM
Key 11 (Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor)
Travis Blake, NASA, Washington DC, DC

The Office of Space Commerce (OSC) is developing the Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS) to be the system that it relies on to implement an improved and responsive system to help coordinate the growing space traffic in near-Earth orbit. OSC has asked NAS to help implement a Research and Development program to ensure that TraCSS has the best capabilities to execute this mission. As part of this task, NASA will be leading the implementation of a development environment, TraCSS-Horizons, that will be the test and evaluation platform for novel data sources and newly developed space traffic coordination services. Through Horizons, the OSC/NASA team will be able to assess the value of these new data and services and transition those that demonstrate the ability to improve the traffic coordination to the operational TraCSS environment. This presentation will cover the latest with the Horizons environment and inform the community how they can get involved to help make space safer and more sustainable.
