9B.2 Progress in UFS Applications for Short-Range Forecasts

Wednesday, 31 January 2024: 8:45 AM
323 (The Baltimore Convention Center)
Hendrik L. Tolman, Dr. Ir., NOAA, Silver Spring, MD

For several years, NOAA has been moving to a Unified Forecast System (UFS) to simplify the Production Suite of operational models, and to accelerate the transition of models into operations by using the same core UFS software stack for both research and operations. As in previous years, this presentation will focus on progress for specific short-range applications, as well as progress with the UFS as a whole. The former will address recent Hurricane and Regional Weather progress. The latter will focus mostly on critical developments, particularly on the ongoing development of the UFS governance.
