With the plethora of free weather apps out there, why should the everyday person pay for their weather? We are all familiar with weather consulting for large institutions, but my company, SWCT/NY Weather LLC, provides a paid weather subscription to everyday people. Our customers say it is the way we communicate, depict, and put a personal touch on their forecast that keeps them paying year after year. Additionally, many find the ability to directly ask a meteorologist a question about the forecast to be invaluable. With over 250 customers in Southern NY and Western CT, we provide hyperlocal weather forecasts and decision support through a variety of media including email, text alerts, app posts, web blog posts, and more. Our forecast templates have been fine tuned through research studies to best suit our customers. In this presentation I will take you through what our service looks like and why some people say it is worth paying for their weather. You will leave with potential new ideas to incorporate into your own forecast communication.
