In this study, the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences (NIMS) of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) evaluated the results of comparing the radiation emulator with the operation model in the Korea Local Analysis and Prediction System (KLAPS). KLAPS consists of a background field production system (KLBG), an analysis field production system (KLPS), and a forecasting field production system (KLFS). In a previous study, NIMS' radiation emulator was trained using data in 2009-2019 in terms of the KLBG and validated using data in 2020. Comparing cases, spatial distribution, and time series, the radiative emulator improved the accuracy over the operation model, respectively. Although the operating model of KMA may be replaced in the future, the universality of the radiation emulator should be ensured even if microphysical parameterization or spatial resolution not used for training is applied. In this experiment, the radiation emulator showed no significant difference compared to the observation data, and the numerical model showed appropriate accuracy without blowing up. In addition, when using the initial and boundary fields produced by the data assimilation system, the radiation emulator showed similar accuracy in comparison with the observed data. In this study, the radiation emulator was used in the same process as the operation model (KLBG-KLPS-KLFS) and the results were analyzed. Through this, it was confirmed that the radiation emulator can be used for operation numerical models.
