Aaron Price, Ph.D., American Meteorological Society, Boston, MA

Amidst an evolving scientific and educational landscape, for 33 years the educational program of the American Meteorological Society has remained a cornerstone for advancing the association's mission. However, the program is at a crossroads as it navigates field-wide and societal shifts in educational practices and business models. This report will summarize the AMS’ education team’s activities in 2023 and describe plans for 2024 and beyond to adapt to these shifts. This includes introducing the program’s new Director, describing early results of a study of the needs of K-12 and undergraduate educators, and a new educational strategic plan to meet those needs. The talk will then transition to future operational directions, emphasizing proposed curricular and programmatic modifications, strategic partnerships, diversification, and methodologies to ensure the program's continued growth and relevance. Join us in this exploration as we ensure that AMS's educational program remains at the forefront to advance public knowledge of the atmospheric and related sciences, technologies, applications, and services for the benefit of society.
