Honeywell’s HALAS (High Altitude LiDAR Atmospheric Sensing) technology enables range resolution of atmospheric winds, temperature, density, humidity and several other data products. The latest instantiation of this technology includes a ground-based, steerable large-aperture system and an airborne-based platform. A measurement campaign using the ground and airborne based HALAS units to demonstrate the 3D wind measurement technology is planned in early 2024. In this work, the operation plan and recent results from the HALAS ground system will be presented. HALAS atmospheric measurements show good agreement with atmospheric models and local sondes where temporally and spatially relevant.
