Monday, 29 January 2024: 2:30 PM
Key 11 (Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor)
Robert Arritt, EPRI, Palo Alto, CA; and C. Perry

The EPRI SUNBURST project supports a community of power grid utilities in Canada and across the US which allows its users to further understand impact on power grid resilience to space weather. The primary focus of the SUNBURST project is to provide a database of GIC and magnetometer data to enable utilities and researchers to evaluate the potentially damaging effects of GIC on power system assets. The data collected is used for feedback into new GIC calculation models, and to validate prediction models. This talk will discuss the EPRI SUNBURST network and our plans of maintaining the system for the industry’s long-term needs.
