NESDIS is in the middle of its cloud migration effort by taking an enterprise adoption approach using the NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF). The NCCF has a number of services that include a consolidated ingest and an enterprise storage that works with all types of NESDIS data types such as satellites or in-situ platforms to make them available for operational algorithms and developers alike. Another NCCF service is the science and development sandbox, a cloud environment that is a key component in the migration of science teams from different organizations from their on-premise development environment into the cloud. The science and development sandbox provides a secure and scalable scientific development environment, provides a streamlined integration between developers and scientists, and supports data visualization tools. In this environment, science teams can leverage CI/CD practices and pipelines to test and then deploy the algorithm resulting in faster transition to operation times for operational algorithms or faster development cycles for research focused applications. The current status of these migration efforts will be presented, including a technical focus on how science teams transition from on-premise to the cloud.
