SERVIR is a joint initiative between NASA, USAID, and leading geospatial organizations in Asia, Africa, and Latin America that partners with countries and organizations to address climate challenges. SERVIR co-develops innovative solutions through a network of regional hubs working to improve resilience at local, national and regional scales. Improving forecast accuracy, increasing forecast lead time, understanding hazard susceptibility, and integrating exposure and vulnerability data has become a critical emerging area. To help address this need, SERVIR’s Southeast Asia and Hindu Kush Himalaya hubs have developed a series of information services to improve landslide and flood early warning, working in partnership with stakeholders from international organizations, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and country-level emergency management departments. This presentation will introduce examples of geospatial services supporting landslide and flood early warning / early action systems, and integrating multidimensional vulnerability and exposure data to assess impacts in the Southeast Asia and Hindu Kush Himalaya regions. These services demonstrate how co-developing and applying satellite, human, and forecast data can address stakeholder needs. By prioritizing collaboration, human insights, and capacity building in the geospatial service development, this work has helped create inclusive solutions and facilitate their adaptation into decision-making.
