Evolution of Satellite Ground Architecture to Enterprise Services

NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) is evolving the traditional mission unique, or siloed, satellite ground systems to use enterprise common services to improve efficiency, enhance security and increase operational flexibility. The shift to an enterprise approach, and the technology used, has changed how ground systems are developed and the culture of the teams involved. The status and plans for the transition to enterprise services will be presented, as well as the lessons learned from the initial stages.
