J5A.4 Unlocking NOAA Data's Value: A Vision and Pathway to Deliver Improved Data Discovery, Access and Applications from a Consolidated, Cloud-Based Storefront

Tuesday, 30 January 2024: 9:15 AM
337 (The Baltimore Convention Center)
Kathryn A. Shontz, NOAA, Silver Spring, MD; and C. OConnors, P. A. Perez, and R. I. Lana

Imagine a world where all of NOAA’s archived data assets are not only available in one consolidated storefront, but that the data could be transformed, tailored and fused to meet needs - that is the vision for development of improved distribution for the NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF). Democratizing data and enabling broader unlocks the hidden value of NOAA’s data. When realized, the vision offers the potential for innovation in unprecedented ways such as the vast diversity and volume of data to leverage for artificial intelligence and machine learning. This talk will discuss the NCCF platform features that NESDIS has and will deploy to enable its enhanced data access vision.
