The NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF): NCCF Ground Architecture in Support of Satellite Data

Abstract

The National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service (NESDIS) is moving to an enterprise ground capability in the cloud, taking advantage of the increased flexibility and scalability that the technology offers. NESDIS developed its Common Cloud framework (NCCF) built within AWS commercial and leverages AWS services to deliver a framework of data management services. Over the course of the last year NESDIS has designed new architecture to provide a science sandbox and development environment in a moderate security boundary to allow for secure space with NESDIS science teams and contributors and work alongside NESDIS and NOAA data holdings to conduct science as well prepare products for future operations. NESDIS has also designed a new Dissemination and User Access Service to consolidate the many dynamic web sites that deliver routine data to users. This service will support many use cases and provide an improved user experience. This talk will show these new architectures and capture some of the key features of these services.
