This study highlights the prospective role of African Easterly Waves (AEWs) in shaping future extreme precipitation occurrences, examined through the lens of the sixth phase of Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) models. These models offer a platform to assess the potential impacts of AEWs on extreme events, bridging knowledge gaps. We employ a tracking algorithm to determine the wave characteristics in the models and associated extreme precipitation events. This study sheds light on the evolving landscape of climate-related risks under historical and Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP) emission scenarios of the future. The findings hold implications for adaptation related policy measures and climate modeling in the region in the face of changing climate dynamics.
