12B.1 NOAA's Uncrewed Systems Research, Development, and Transitions

Wednesday, 31 January 2024: 4:30 PM
Holiday 6 (Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor)
Bryan Cole, NOAA/OAR - Uncrewed Systems Research Transition Office, Silver Spring, MD

NOAA's Uncrewed Systems Research Transition Office supports the research, development, transition to operations and evaluation of uncrewed maritime and aircraft systems (UxS) to meet NOAA's broad mission. From the top of the atmosphere to the bottom of the ocean, NOAA is developing uncrewed technologies to help fill observational data gaps that are impossible or impractical to gather via other mechanisms. These observations are being applied towards better understanding of the earth's climate, weather, oceans and coasts. In addition to R&D, there are funding opportunities specifically for data acquisition using UxS, for transitioning mid-to-high-readiness technologies into operations, and for bridging the final barriers preventing a concept or technology from transitioning.
