Private and public organizations are collecting and analyzing more weather data than ever before, assisting governments, communities, businesses, and individuals in better understanding and managing the risks from extreme weather and natural disasters. Despite advancements in weather forecasts and warnings, extreme weather and natural disasters continue to negatively impact U.S. citizens and communities.

This persisting challenge drives the efforts of AccuWeather, one of the first Weather-Ready Nation Ambassadors, to proactively work to make the citizens of the United States “weather-ready” through engagement and collaboration with the NWS to strengthen national resilience against extreme weather. One of AccuWeather’s approaches to working with the NWS in affecting societal change is through the rapid and accurate dissemination of critical official government weather warnings to a broader audience. AccuWeather’s globally recognized website and mobile applications serve as the mechanism to facilitate the quickest delivery of warnings to the public efficiently. The platform empowers individuals, businesses, and communities in harm’s way to make life saving decisions and reduce devastating economic losses.

Best practices and innovative technology developed by AccuWeather related to the supply and instantaneous distribution of weather warning information from the NWS will be presented to illustrate how we work as a private enterprise partner with the NWS to mitigate risks, reduce loss of life and property, and enhance overall weather awareness among the public
