Col. Daniel Visosky, Senior Material Leader, US Space Force, Space Systems Command, Environmental and Tactical Surveillance Delta, Los Angeles Space Force Base, CA

Timely, accurate, and relevant weather information is a critical enabler to any military mission. In 2012 the Department of Defense outlined twelve capability gaps for space-based environmental monitoring (SBEM) capabilities, including for both terrestrial and space weather measurement needs, and has since procured systems to help close those gaps. In addition, the US Space Force recently kicked off a new round of studies to develop roadmaps for future SBEM architectures, including collaboration with stakeholders and trade studies to identify optimal architecture configurations. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the past, present, and future of DOD weather architectures, and how they support the warfighter.
