Project Pythia is an educational and training hub tailored to the geoscientific Python community. Its primary goal is to teach valuable Python programming skills through open-source and accessible educational materials and resources. By providing comprehensive education, Project Pythia aims to empower geoscientists to contribute back to the open-source Python community. Project Pythia simplifies contributing to the project and Open Science with extensive guides on how to create and contribute to a Cookbook.

During my summer internship with Unidata, I developed two valuable contributions for Project Pythia following the Cookbook Contributor’s Guide. These contributions included a foundational remote data access tutorial using Xarray and the Skew-T section of the MetPy Cookbook. Beyond strengthening my foundational Python programming skills, these contributions allowed me to actively participate in Open Science initiatives and contribute to the growth of the geoscientific Python community.
