Title: Outreach in Meteorology as an Underrepresented Science

Abstract: Educational outreach is imperative to the growth of K-12 students across the country. In collaboration with the University of Arizona NASA Space Grant Graduate Fellowship Program, a group of students from the St. Cyril of Alexandria School in Tucson, AZ were provided with an experience that allows them to understand the atmosphere around them. The goal of this project was to provide the students with a meteorological education that would not otherwise be given. The students learned about the North American Monsoon, conducted hands on experiments, and completed a research project that bridges the gap between the K-12 school system and higher education.
