Bill Sjoberg, JPSS, Lanham, MD

This presentation will focus on the NOAA’s Low Earth-Orbiting (LEO) Office’s success in building and maintaining an effective User Engagement Program from the early stages, to today, and into the future. Details will be presented on how users worked with program developers as Suomi NPP data and products became available to determine how best to use these capabilities operationally. With each success new ideas were proposed and, in some cases, existing products were modified to increase their value. The presentation will show the various stages of how these products were applied by users over the years. as they responded to environmental disasters and severe storms. Information will be presented on current User Engagement (UE) activities and how the LEO Office has leveraged other US and international satellite programs’ UE efforts to maximize the effectiveness of these partnerships. The briefer will engage session participants to give them the opportunity to provide feedback on their current satellite use and any new requirements that satellite data and products do not meet.
