Responding to the growing exigency for precise and timely forecasts of meteorological events such as hurricanes, this paper introduces 'AI-Assisted Meteorology: Leveraging ChatGPT for Real-Time Hurricane Forecasting', a cutting-edge open-source project that amalgamates artificial intelligence methodologies, Python programming, and dynamic data visualisation to generate reliable hurricane predictions.

The backbone of this endeavour is OpenAI's sophisticated GPT-based model, ChatGPT, which is dovetailed with Python to execute instantaneous analysis and forecasting of hurricane trajectories. LeafletJS, a premier open-source JavaScript library known for its adaptability in creating interactive maps for mobile interfaces, is deployed to craft a data visualisation front end, thus facilitating the real-time global mapping of live hurricane data. Each storm is distinctly annotated with crucial parameters, such as its current state, intensity, and projected course, which are updated instantaneously through API calls.

The project additionally amplifies its visual efficacy by implementing a colour-coding scheme aligned with hurricane intensities, thus furnishing an immediate visual reference for end-users. The data visualisation tool methodically collates the forecast data according to storm ID, thereby proffering unique forecasts for each identified storm.

Designed to be hosted on any cloud-based Virtual Machine that supports Python, the project invites the contribution of developers worldwide. We extend an open invitation to practitioners specializing in AI, cloud computing, Python programming, and meteorology to contribute to refining and amplifying this crucial forecasting tool.

By interweaving the realms of artificial intelligence and meteorology, we seek to catalyze a paradigm shift in hurricane forecasting, harnessing the potential of technology to enhance disaster management and contingency planning. We welcome your invaluable participation in our open-source endeavor aimed at advancing the science of weather forecasting.
