Description:
Under a new policy released by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in 2022, federally funded research must make their publications and data publicly accessible. This directive urges all agencies to have new policies in place by December 2025. In response, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Natural Hazards Center co-hosted a Workshop on Open Data and Reuse in Social Science Weather Research in April 2023. The workshop focused on sharing the new policy; new advancements in social science instrument and data publication infrastructure; training and mentoring for data publication; challenges to publishing and reusing data, and brainstorming solutions to overcome those challenges; and recommendations for next steps. This listening session will highlight emerging workshop findings and recommendations, and invite the broader weather, water, and climate social science research community to share their thoughts and feedback.
Submission Deadline: Thursday, 31 August 2023
