Description:
Data repositories serve an important role in ensuring earth science data is findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. Many repositories process and manage diverse data across disciplines, observing platforms, and/or countries. While new technologies are being used for data collection that increase volume and data complexity, there is increased interest in leveraging new processing technologies to increase collaboration, sustainability, and living up to the principles of CARE (Collective Benefit, Authority to Control, Responsibility, Ethics) and TRUST (Transparency, Responsibility, User focus, Sustainability, and Technology) for digital repositories. In this session we want to explore how to increase innovation in environmental data repositories. This session invites everyone from data stewards to scientists and partners to submit your technology successes, challenges, and dreams in this area. We hope the session can create connections and explore ideas on how to use technology, such as knowledge graphs, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, to expand and evolve environmental data repositories to be sustainable and deliver the highest value to the scientific community and public.
Submission Deadline: Thursday, 31 August 2023
