Description:
Broad idea is about maintaining (or even stepping into the realm) of creating, writing, and editing a professional resume - the idea of it being a 'living document'. The session would provide pointers on updating and improving a 'regular' (paper) resume/CV, then discussing how to properly evolve the document onto a platform such as LinkedIn. I can see this session idea being delivered in a number of different ways - something where early career folks bring their resume and do something in a brainstorm activity with peers, or more of a short presentation/panel discussion are two thoughts. I know from teaching a course for years on professionalism in the physical sciences that senior undergraduates (and thus folks transitioning into 'early career') are often confused about how often to review and update a resume and how to establish a presence on online platforms such as LinkedIn; the goal of this session would be to guide folks towards better habits regarding an (e-) resume.
