Societal Impacts in the Coastal Environment due to Climate Change

Description:

Climate change is known to cause large impacts along coastlines which are expected to grow in the future. Largely but not solely due to sea level rise and the resulting coastal flooding, coastal communities are becoming increasingly vulnerable and are impacted by climate change. Furthermore, vulnerable populations are often most significantly affected by the effects of climate change. Predicting and understanding the impacts depends on the integration of complex, multifaceted datasets including climate change projections, sea level rise and coastal water level predictions, risk statistics, and socioeconomic data. This session will explore the latest advancements in understanding, communicating, and preparing for the impacts of climate change in the coastal environment.
