Community Data Assimilation efforts to deliver sustained improvements in model forecast skill and training of the next generation of experts in this area to fill an existing critical workforce gap, focuses on addressing challenging Data Assimilation issues key to improve next-generation UFS short range, medium range, and subseasonal to seasonal models toward improved forecast skill, research to operations (R2O) and operations to research (O2R) priorities and processes, and progress on training and training courses using UFS applications working with the Earth Prediction Innovations Center (EPIC), the Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA), and others as appropriate.
