Session The Changing Environment of 2YC and 4YC Education in the Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences

Description:

Two year colleges (2YC) play a unique role in the higher education landscape, serving students from urban and rural demographics, from high poverty neighborhoods, and communities with higher proportions of people of color. By this very nature they enable and motivate a diverse educational population in the atmospheric and environmental sciences. Two Year Colleges are a critical component in workforce development as well as a transfer pipeline to 4YC programs. Education and training of the workforce to meet market needs requires skills and curriculum development which includes employable skills at the 2YC level as well as recruitment and transfer of 2YC students to 4YC programs.

This session invites abstracts that focus on all aspects of 2YC education, including curriculum and skills development,  research, public and private sector needs, building collaborations between 2YCs and 4YCs, the transfer process, student and faculty resource needs, and  atmospheric, climate, environmental science education.
