The geosciences have long faced challenges with gender inequity. While progress has been made, women remain underrepresented in geoscience education programs and careers, especially in leadership positions. This session will explore the current state of gender diversity and inclusion in the geosciences from multiple perspectives.

Topics will include but are not limited to: workplace climate in geoscience organizations and academia; strategies for recruiting, retaining and advancing women in geosciences; initiatives and programs promoting gender equity in geosciences; role of policies, leadership and accountability in driving change.

This session invites abstracts that present original research, case studies, programs, initiatives, and perspectives related to understanding and addressing gender inequities in the geosciences. Contributions from all career stages are welcomed. The goal is to share evidence and promising practices to build a more diverse, inclusive and equitable future for the geosciences.
